Media Matters Distorts 'Fast and Furious' Facts

Soros

George Soros

Take notice:  Media Matters is a heavily funded, socialist-left, media outlet that gets paid to shoot down any news source that is conservative and right-leaning.  In reaction to the growth and popularity boom of conservative news in the early 2000s, a group of 70 ultra-liberal donors, millionaires and billionaires, began a focused, freedom hating campaign of obstructionist news and dubious slogans.  Why does this all matter to the gun-toting traditionalist, American? Because those on the progressive left are vehemently opposed to private firearm ownership.

Media Matters’ blueprint says: Defeat anything right.  Promote everything left.  The American people say: Wait just one minute, fair is fair!  Prior to the rise of cable news and conservative radio, decades of progressive politics advocacy and propaganda filled television media; CBS, NBC and ABC for example, created an audience tired of inundated falsities.  Soon enough journalists and commentators with any backbone began to notice too, hence the birth of FOX News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity.
The George Soros – Media Matters connection

Since international financier and gun control advocate George Soros is about as progressive as it gets, it should be no surprise that he is a founding member and huge contributor to Media Matters.   According to Forbes.com, Soros has a net income of upward of $14.5 billion, so unfortunately for us, his personal pet peeve against American gun rights, hurts us tremendously.

“[Soros] has dedicated a large percentage of his income gained from manipulating international stock and currency markets to push for gun control. He exploits the usual “liberal” useful idiots to push his gun-grabbing agenda.” (PrisonPlanet.com)

Soros has also been a long time enabler of anti-Second Amendment member groups within the United Nations.

“Rebecca Peters, director of the International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA), is working with the United Nations and governments around the world to grab guns. Peters and IANSA are funded by the globalist George Soros . . . Soros, the United Nations, and the globalists are diligently working behind the scenes to dismantle the Second Amendment and grab your guns under international treaty.” (Ibid.)

Of course FOX News is distorting the facts, they want us to believe!

Media Matters is up front and center complaining about FOX’s “America’s Newsroom” interview with Wayne LaPierre, Executive Vice President of the National Rifle Association (NRA), who was on the program to discuss an NRA initiated lawsuit questioning the legality of a law that requires gun dealers to report to the Federal government sales of two or more rifles.

Calling the National Rifle Association “myth” makers, Media Matters says, “LaPierre only spoke briefly about the lawsuit and instead used most of his appearance to push the myth that America is not a significant source of firearms for Mexican cartels.”

Here is how Media Matters justifies its construed position:

“The facts on U.S. guns going to Mexico are straight forward. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) has seized more 10,000 firearms and more then 1.1. million rounds of ammunition headed to the southwest border since 2006. On the Mexican side of the border, 20,504 or 70 percent of the total firearms seized and submitted for tracing in the last two years were from the United States.”

Presenting facts that are simply not true, FireArmsTruth.com says Media Matters plays “loose and fast with the numbers” noting that their rifle tracing statistics and subsequent commentary is biased because it does not reflect all guns that are submitted for tracing, and completely ignores the ongoing controversy “Fast and Furious” which accuses the Federal government of being involved in covert arms sales to Mexico.

“[I]f the ATF seize 100 guns, and only submit 17 for tracing and 70 percent of those are from America – the number isn’t 70 percent . . . Another element missing in this reporting is that ATF with Fast and Furious allowed thousands of guns into Mexico. That part of the equation is totally missing, as if it doesn’t matter.”

Telling tall tales in today’s up to date, alternative news environment is not as easy as it used to be – good!  However the sad truth is Media Matters still has great influence on American minds.  Exposing their tactics to anyone who will listen is just one important step in our battle to preserve the unique American right to keep and bear arms.

A few words for the wise:  Everything Media Matters says is tainted; Do Not rely on them for accuracy; and Where and when applicable, fight them tooth and nail.
