An Ohio couple woke up to the sound of their dog growling at 4 AM on Thursday and saw an intruder standing in the hall with a flashlight. The husband grabbed his gun and fired a shot in the direction of the criminal, embedding a bullet in the door frame.
The burglar’s fled the house with the couple’s dog in pursuit. Authorities later joined in the chase but failed to apprehend the intruders. Police say the husband was well within his right to defend himself.
““The person was still well within the house when he fired the shot,” the police chief said. “The bullet didn’t go outside.”
The homeowner’s wife is just happy everyone is safe:
“I just thank God we have the right to bear arms to protect ourselves,” she said.
