MO Homeowner Shoots Intruder After Being Punched

A neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri had been dealing with a burglar for the past couple of weeks.  The robber would steal property from a nearby neighbor and hide it near another resident’s house.

Around 10 PM last week, a homeowner noticed that someone had returned to collect the stolen items.  The homeowner confronted the man and told him to leave his property.  Immediately the intruder reacted by punching the homeowner in the face.

Afraid for his life, the homeowner defended himself by pulling out his firearm and shooting the suspect once, striking him in the leg.

Authorities arrived to find the suspect collapsed in the driveway next to the armed homeowner.

According to the Kansas City Star, the intruder claimed he had just been cutting through the yard but other neighbor’s reports confirmed the homeowner’s self-defense.

Police expect the suspect to be charged next week and he is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.  The homeowner has been cleared of all wrongdoing.

It’s still astounding what some criminals will attempt to do or say in order to get away with the crime.  Much respect to the homeowner for standing his ground and not fearing charges for protecting his neighborhood and home.
