Anti-gun Colorado Democrat calls self-defense "absurd."

It is stunning that someone so poorly-educated could become the Colorado House Majority Leader:

Colorado House Majority Leader Dickey Lee Hullinghorst gave her party’s view of gun control from her perch in Boulder. The “interview” is on YouTube from “The Tim Caffrey Show,” which resembles that episode of Seinfeld when Kramer set up the Merv Griffin studio in his apartment, but I digress.

Hullinghorst gives some clear insight into the talking points and feelings from members of her party. She reiterates that no legislators are trying to take away people’s guns and refers to these new gun laws as common sense.

But near the end of the interview, Hullinghorst lets her guard down and says, “The thought that the only way we can protect ourselves is to wield our own weapon is completely absurd and an argument that I absolutely discount as frivolous.” Apparently, Senator Evie Hudak’s notorious line that the woman testifying wouldn’t have been able to protect herself with a firearm anyway is more common among Democrats than originally thought.

Hullinghorst believes that the only defense is “law and order.” That people will not commit crimes simply because there are laws against criminal activity.

Hullinghorst fits an nearly cartoonist stereotype of a liberal anti-gun Democrat dumb enough to think that criminals will obey the next law passed.

Who elects these people?
