As we said previously, gun control is dead:

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), one of the lead sponsors of a gun control compromise bill earlier this year, said Sunday that he’s not going to push for a new gun debate unless he sees an increase in support for the effort.

“Not unless there’s a movement,” Manchin said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “You know, I’m not going to go out there and just beat the drum for the sake of beating the drum.”

Our Politician-to-English phrasebook suggests that what Manchin means is, “I’m not going down for Mike Bloomberg.”
