Store owner to armed robber: Mine is bigger

Robert Moore was ringing-up a customer around 10 p.m. at the Morning Star Mini Mart, located in the 8800 block of 9th Ave SW, when two men entered the store wearing ski masks. One of the men stayed near the entrance of the store while the other attempted robber approached the counter and pointed a gun at Moore.

“This is a robbery,” Moore said the man told him.

Moore said the attempted robber’s gun didn’t look real.

“I looked at his gun and said ‘I have a bigger one than you do,’ ” he said.

Moore keeps a number of handguns stashed behind the counter in his store, and by the time he reached for one and turned around the robber was out the door like, well, a shot.

KOMO has video of  the robbery and their get away vehicle, which appears to be an older 4-door Ford Explorer.

An interesting side note to the failed robbery is that the customer who was standing at the counter completely froze up during the attempted heist, and wasn’t even sure if what he’d seen was real from three feet away. When you live your life in a completely unguarded manner, you’re prepared to be nothing more than a victim.
