STAND AND FIGHT! Detroit Grandmother/Carry Permit Holder Shoots Her Way Out Of Ambush With Concealed Handgun

Do not shoot Detroit grandmother Paris Ainsworth. Even if you hit her four times, you’ll only make her mad:

Her siblings now jokingly call her Rambo.

However, Paris Ainsworth easily could have been killed. Her attackers shot her four times, but she had eight bullets for them.

“If I wouldn’t have had my gun I would be dead today,” she said.

It was late Saturday night when she arrived home after working a double shift. She saw two men moving closer to her as she was about to get out of her car. Before she got out, she put her .45 caliber handgun in her pocket.

“He said, ‘Don’t pull it,’ and he shot immediately,'” said Ainsworth.

She was hit three times in the side and once in the hand. It was not her shooting hand.

“I said, ‘You mother (expletive),’ and pulled out (my gun) and started shooting. One, he was right in the middle of the street. The other one was right here on the (side of the street),” she said.

Ainsworth waited on a neighbor’s porch until EMS arrived.

“I kept applying pressure to my side and where the blood was coming from,” she said.

A police source says the two men were arrested after showing up wounded at Sinai-Grace Hospital in west Detroit, the same place where Ainsworth was being treated. Ainsworth had shot one of them in both of his legs.

“I’m extremely proud of her because she was able to return fire back. She had something to protect herself. If she didn’t, she would be dead,” said Ainsworth’s sister, Twila Ainsworth.

Experts will tell you that a large part of surviving a gunfight is mental. After being shot three times in the body and once in the hand, many people would have registered, “I’m shot,” and they would have wilted to the ground what experts call a “psychological stop.” If you’ve ever studied film of gunfights, you’ll note that many gun battles stop just this way, with someone taking hits and quitting the fight, even though they have not suffered a hit to the central nervous (CNS) system, might have suffered superficial wounds, or might not have been hit at all.

Ainsworth took four hits that would have caused many people to simply give up the fight, and then went into action, pulling her .45 and emptying it at the two men with enough accuracy that she hit one of them twice in the legs.

After she drove off the would-be killers, the grandmother of four had the presence of mind to apply pressure to the wound, and waited on a neighbor’s porch for emergency services.

Ainsworth’s .45 was taken into evidence as part of the case and will likely be returned to her once the case is over. That’s okay: she had two handguns, and this Sig SP2022 will serve her well until her .45 is returned.

Ainsworth is one of many Detroit residents intent on taking the fight right back to the criminals.

You’ll note that she has quality weapons, good ammo, trains regularly, good situational awareness, and has what’s been called “the fighting mindset.”

If I were a Detroit area self-defense company owner, I might consider attempting to hire Ainsworth as a speaker, if not as an instructor. She did everything that a shooter should do in gunfight, and because she did, she prevailed.
