A homeowner shot a burglar multiple times after the suspect kicked in his door and assaulted his wife.

The suspect has been identified as Dakota Hester. Authorities say he kicked in the door, assaulted his wife then proceeded upstairs.

Deputies say the homeowner, Jonathan Wofford went into his bedroom and locked the door.

Deputies say Hester kicked open the door and then was shot by Wofford.

Hester was shot several times and air lifted to Spartanburg Regional, where he was listed in critical condition.

If the suspect survives, he will be charged with burglary and criminal domestic violence.
