Dead Man's Hand: "Wild Bill" Hickok's final revolver up for auction

Wild Bill Hickok, one of the Old West’s most colorful gunfighters, was well know for carrying a pair of ivory-handled, silver-plated Colt 1851 .36 Navy Model revolvers butt-forward, thrust through his belt. Neither of those legendary pistols were on him the day he was assassinated during a poker game, in Deadwood, South Dakota, paired aces and eights in his hand.

Instead of those famous pistols Hickok was carrying a Smith & Wesson Model 2 with rosewood grips, and that gun will be up for auction in November. If you have a few extra coins burning a hole in your pocket, Hickock’s last gun can be yours for an estimated $300,000-$500,000.

The question is, where are Hickok’s famous Colts?
