Thugs attempt to rob armed off-duty cop, with predictable results

This is why criminals prefer unarmed victims:

According to police, a St. Charles County deputy and a 23-year-old female acquaintance were jogging near the Grand Basin at the foot of Art Hill around 11:15 p.m. when a man slowly walked past them.

Police said the officer became suspicious and placed a gun at his side as a precaution. When the pair turned a corner, three black males dressed in dark clothing and hoodies pulled a gun and announced a robbery.

The officer then fired shots at the suspect, striking all three of them. An 18-year-old suspect was hit in the stomach and was pronounced dead the scene.

One of the other suspects was struck in the buttocks and the other was hit in the neck. Those suspects, both 20, were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

There’s no word on whether the dead robber’s sister-in-law is going to complain that he didn’t get the benefit of a warning from those he tried to rob.
