Elderly Minnesota man sends one home invader running, one to the morgue

Chalk up another one for the good guys with guns.

Pine County Deputies responded to the home of an elderly man on reports of a shooting.

When they got there the homeowner told them that two men had entered his house on the Fox road near Sandstone in what appeared to be a robbery attempt.

The Sheriff’s office reports at least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun and confronted the homeowner. The homeowner grabbed a handgun of his own and shot the armed suspect killing him.

It would be very interesting if the FBI kept data on the ages of shooters in defensive gun uses (DGUs) and the effects of the shots they fire. While I’m basing this on nothing empirical at all, it seems that the older folks who end up shooting it out with bad guys tend to be more accurate than younger folks.
