NARRATIVE SHIFT? Ferguson Eyewitness Claims Teen Charged Cop

The initial claim that Michael Brown was virtually executed by a Ferguson Police Officer has been radically reversed.

An eyewitness to the shooting picked up on video and a friend of the involved officer both tell a similar story. Both accounts have Brown fighting with the Ferguson police officer at his vehicle, Brown turning to flee, and then Brown turning to taunt the officer. Brown then charged at the officer and forced a lethal force response.

First, here’s video from Youtube user BlackCanseco, who has posted very graphic images of the aftermath of the shooting. As police tape was already up and multiple officers were on scene followed immediately by EMS, I’m going to make an estimate that the video started 10-20 minutes after the shooting.

WARNING: The video features Mr. Brown’s body in the street and may be upsetting to many viewers. In addition, the video is peppered with a constant stream of profanity from bystanders. Not Safe For Work (NSFW).

The Conservative Treehouse has provided a transcript of a conversation of one eyewitness to the shooting, which begins at 6:28 into the video:

#1 How’d he get from there to there?

#2 Because he ran, the police was still in the truck – cause he was like over the truck

{crosstalk}

#2 But him and the police was both in the truck, then he ran – the police got out and ran after him

{crosstalk}

#2 Then the next thing I know he doubled back toward him cus – the police had his gun drawn already on him –

#1. Oh, the police got his gun

#2 The police kept dumpin on him, and I’m thinking the police kept missing – he like – be like – but he kept coming toward him

{crosstalk}

#2 Police fired shots – the next thing I know – the police was missing

#1 The Police?

#2 The Police shot him

#1 Police?

#2 The next thing I know … I’m thinking … the dude started running … (garbled something about “he took it from him”)

A caller to the Dana Loesch radio show claims that the officer who shot Brown told a very similar story.

[continues on next page]

In this account of the story, Brown attacked the cop, they struggled over possession of the officer’s  handgun, and a shot was fired. Brown then runs, turns, taunts the cop, and then bum-rushed the officer. The officer fired multiple times (presumably controlled pairs at the center chest, as trained) which failed to stop Brown, and he concluded with a classic failure to stop or “Mozambique drill” response, with a hammer (fast pair of shots with one sight picture to the chest, followed by a carefully aimed head shot) that dropped Brown just 2-3 feet in front of the officer.

If these similar accounts from two very different people (one eyewitness, the second allegedly echoing what the officer said) match up to the forensic evidence, that there wasn’t anything remotely like an inappropriate use of force in this incident.

If a  felony suspect—which Brown would have been after attacking the cop and fighting for the control of the officer’s weapon—charges a police officer, then the officer is clearly justified (from a legal perspective) to use lethal force to stop the threat to his life that Brown clearly posed. A civilian in a similar circumstance would be equally justified, though would not have the benefit of the doubt given the officer by authorities, nor the immediate suspicion leveled against  the officer by the cop-haters of the world.

If the forensic evidence supports this account of events, then the “witnesses” who claimed that the cop shot Brown from behind and while he was down should face criminal charges for inciting a riot.
