When You Pistol Whip A Child During A Robbery, You Deserve Every Bit Of What Comes Next

A pair of home invaders assaulted two women and a child during a home invasion in Mechanicsville, SC. One of the thugs pistol-whipped one of the women and struck the child in the face with his weapon repeatedly. The other thug struck the other woman with his gun and pointed it at her head.

The homeowner awoke during the melee and delivered summary justice:

A burglary in Mechanicsville has left one suspect dead and several victims injured, according to Sheriff Wayne Byrd with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.

Byrd said two men broke into the home and physically assaulted two women and struck an 11-year-old boy in the head with a gun.

He said the homeowner was in a back room asleep and woke up to all the commotion.

“He was at the back of the residence, came out fired several shots at the intruders, and they fled the scene. And upon our officers arriving, they found one of the suspects dead in a field about 75 yards from the house,” said Sheriff Byrd.

Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee has identified the person who died as Marquis Benjamin, 25, of Darlington.

The incident must have been traumatic for the family that was attacked. They not only dealt with a home invasion and shooting, but lost the family dog during the exchange of gunfire when it was shot by one of the robbers.

The surviving robber, Brandon Jade Lunn, has been charged with criminal conspiracy, burglary, and three counts of assault and battery. He could also presumably be charged with his accomplice’s death under the felony homicide rule.

Perhaps it shouldn’t come as a shock, but Lunn’s sister came to his defense in the comments of the article.

She stops just short of claiming that her brother was a good man who was just turning his life around when he “accidentally” invaded a home and pistol-whipped the residents.

It never ceases to amaze me the lengths people are willing to go to justify the criminal actions of their relatives.
