It is incredibly rare for us to essentially say, “here, just go read this,” but this is one of those rare times.

Andrew Touhy isn’t one of the most broadly-known gun bloggers out there, nor is he very prolific. What he is, is a combat-experienced and very capable shooter and trainer who has spent a great deal of time training and scientifically testing firearms and accessories… sometimes to the great regret of those who have asked for his honest opinion of substandard equipment.

He’s also know for his alter-ego, “Rick Taylor, World’s Greatest Tactical Instructor,” whom he created to poke a little fun at the tacti-cool trainers that seem to popping up out of the ground in recent years like mushrooms after a spring rain.

Recently, Andrew dusted off his blog long enough to talk seriously about the military fakers in the tactical training world (the very people he mocked via Rick Taylor), people who are attempting to exploit military experience that they don’t have, to sell training to people who don’t know any better.

Here at Bearing Arms, we strongly advise people to get the best training they can find, and we don’t want you wasting your hard-earned dollars learning from people that you can’t trust.
