Via News 2 this morning comes the breaking news of a customer taking down an armed robber in a South Carolina Waffle House.

Just before 5:00 am Saturday, North Charleston police officers responded to the Waffle House at 6907 Dorchester Road in reference to an armed robbery and shots fired.

When police arrived, officers found the business was robbed and the suspect was shot during the incident.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a customer shot the armed suspect.

The suspect was transported to the hospital, and his condition is unknown at this time.
Waffle House has an official policy of banning firearms (open carry or concealed), but allowed latitude for local franchises based on “local standards.”
Update: The customer who shot the robber has a concealed carry permit, and other customers credit him with saving their lives.
