13 Year-Old Kills Armed Home Invader In SC

This is intense:

Officials with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office say one person is dead after a 13-year-old boy opened fire at a suspected burglar at a home on Tuesday.

CCSO officials announced late Tuesday afternoon that one of the subjects involved in the attempted burglary at an Elderwood Drive home died at Trident Hospital.

Authorities did not say who the subject was, but did state that the juvenile involved was not the deceased subject.

The incident happened at a home in the Woodside community.

According to CCSO officials, the boy reported hearing someone trying to break into the home, so he got his mother’s gun and went to the back door.

“He saw a subject out back trying to get inside so he fired his mother’s gun through the door and the subject reportedly fired back,” CCSO officials said.”The subject fled the scene in a silver vehicle.”

Authorities say the silver vehicle reportedly took the subject to Trident Hospital.

The responding deputies arrived at the home on Elderwood Drive at 1:34 p.m.

An incident report states the boy was asked to come out of the home.

Deputies say the boy then exited the home without incident.

“Sheriff’s Office has detectives on the scene at Elderwood and at the hospital,” authorities said.

The sheriff’s office is continuing the investigation.

Neighbors said they were thankful for the boy’s quick action.

I can’t imagine the sheer terror this young man went through as a burglar attempted to force his way into his home, and I’m thankful that he was able to shoot the home invader before the home invader shot him.
