The general public has the idea that your average law enforcement officer is highly-trained with firearms. This may be true of elite units within certain agencies (full-time SWAT/ERT units in major metropolitan areas, for example), but most law enforcement officers qualification courses are closer to what we see in this example. Many officers never experience anything much more complex than shooting at paper targets from static positions under generous time limits.

This is probably very similar to what many of you have experienced in qualifying for your concealed carry permits.
