The NFL has been ridiculed for years as the “National Felons League,” and Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib is adding to the reputation for intercepting a bullet at a Dallas strip club. Making the incident more intriguing is the angle of the shot to Talib’s lower leg, which suggests that he might have managed to shoot himself in a drunken stupor.

Did Aqib Talib pull a Plaxico Burress?

A bullet entered and exited the cornerback’s lower leg during a shooting in the aftermath of a fight at a Dallas strip club early Sunday morning. Two other men were shot at the club. The Broncos are looking into whether Talib shot himself by accident, according to Pro Football Talk.

However, adding to the confusion, Talib told Dallas police he was at a park when he was shot.

“Everything was a blur and I was too intoxicated to remember what happened,” he said, according to WFAA, the ABC affiliate in Dallas.

Talib didn’t need surgery and is expected to be OK, according to ESPN. But he will miss the team’s trip to the White House, where the Broncos will be honored for winning Super Bowl 50.

This isn’t Talib’s first incident with a firearm. He was charged with aggravated assault in 2011 after allegedly firing a gun at his sister’s boyfriend. Those charges were dropped.

It remains to be seen if Talib had shot either of the other two patrons at the club. If so, don’t expect him to get off so easy this time.
