House Democrats Plan Scripted Gun Control "Day of Outrage"

A memo from minority leader Nancy Pelosi’s office calling for a “gun violence prevention day of action” today includes a long itinerary of scripted actions to be taken by Democrat representatives under orders from the 76-year-old gun control zealot.  The actions called for are tightly controlled, right down the the tweets the powerful California Democrat wants the staff of representatives to use on social media on her orders.

Characteristically, the tweets scheduled to begin at a 12:30 PM ET “tweetstorm” are factually inaccurate.

272 mass shootings this year. When will @SpeakerRyan give us a vote? #NoFlyNoBuy  #CloseTheLoophole #GunVote

You would think you might have noticed there being more than one Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook or Pulse Night Club every single day this year, but Pelosi’s numbers don’t come from a reputable source. They are instead pulled from Mass Shooting Tracker, a self-described gun control propaganda site that has changed the traditional definition of mass shootings (four or more people killed in a random attack not including the killer) used by the Congressional Research Office, echoing the FBI’s definition of a “mass murder,” in order to make almost any shooting—from domestic violence incidents to a gang drive-by—a “mass shooting.”

The actual number of mass shootings in 2016 using the Congressional Research Office definition?

Two.

  1. The Uber driver in Kalamazoo, Michigan who killed six random strangers and wounded 2 on February 20.
  2. The Pulse nightclub massacre, which was also an Islamic terrorist attack carried out by a Hillary Clinton supporter on June 12.

Using a much broader definition that includes incidents were four or more people were shot (including targeted attacks, domestic violence, and organized crime) were a total of 11 other “mass shootings” in 2016.

The claim that there were 272 mass shooting so far this year without it dominating the news every single day, 24 hours a day, is idiotic.

If Pelosi’s face wasn’t botoxed to the point of petrification, it should show shame for pushing such an obviously absurd claim.

Thousands killed w/ guns over reckless Republican recess. When will @SpeakerRyan give us a vote? #NoFlyNoBuy #CloseTheLoophole #GunVote

dan gross brady campaign

Pelosi is channeling the lies of Dan Gross of the Brady Campaign, who claimed—without citing any evidence at all—that 4,500 people died as a result of “gun violence” during Congress’s summer recess.

8,124 people were murdered with firearms in all of 2014, the last year for which we have complete data from the FBI. Dan Gross and Brady are being dishonest (as they always are) by including suicides to grossly inflate their numbers, while asserting that there is a “gun violence problem” in the United States.

Objectively, there is no “gun violence problem” in the United States, no matter how you slice it.

Per capita criminal homicides are at an all time record low. So are accidents with firearms. Violent crime in general is down, in part of a multi-decade trend.

This long-term decline in human criminal violence is occurring as so-called “Gun Culture 2.0” has been birthed over the past decade, with younger, female, and urban gun owners becoming the fastest growing demographics of new gun owners. Female handgun owners in particular are seeing incredible growth. As a result of this surge in gun ownership, gun sales and concealed carry at at record highs, month over month.

Gun ownership and sales are up. Criminal and accidental deaths from firearms are down.

Interesting, isn’t it?

I stand with @HouseGVP in demanding a vote on gun violence prevention legislation #NoFlyNoBuy  #CloseTheLoophole #GunVote

Not a single law demanded by Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Democrats would have saved a single life or prevented a single terrorist attack, but it would greatly expand the government’s abuse of so-called “terror watch lists.”

If person can’t fly, they shouldn’t be able to get a gun. @SpeakerRyan: give us a vote #NoFlyNoBuy #GunVote

The abuse of power demanded by Democrats in their pursuit of gun control is so great that the ACLU and NRA are making the same arguments against it. It’s a flagrant attack on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Amendment rights of all citizens, who can find themselves on a “watch list” for any reason, no reason, a bureaucrat’s grudge, or in the case of yours truly, simply writing an article that someone in the Obama Administration didn’t like.

@PewResearch: 85% of people support closing gun show loophole. @SpeakerRyan give us a vote #CloseTheLoophole #GunVote

There is no such thing as a “gun show loophole,” and there hasn’t been in the 20+ years gun control supporters have been making this claim. Gun dealers (Federal Firearms Licensees, or FFLs) must conduct a background check to sell  a gun anywhere, whether at a gun show, a store front, or at a kitchen table. Private citizens retain the right to sell their personal possessions to anyone they feel like selling them to without begging the government’s permission.

Retweet if you stand with @HouseGVP call for @SpeakerRyan to allow a vote to close background check loophole #GunVote

When gun control supporters call for “closing loopholes,” what they’re actually attempting to do is establish de facto gun registration by forcing law-abiding citizens to document every transaction with a firearm. This is an attempt by Democrats to short-circuit the long-standing federal law preventing a national gun registration system, and does nothing whatsoever to address the reality that criminals do not buy their firearms legally. Criminals obtain their firearms through straw purchases (which short-circuits the background check system), through theft, and through the same black market smuggling routes they use to traffick illicit narcotics and other contraband.

American people want Congress to #DoYourJob. End gun violence in our community. Give us a vote. #NoFlyNoBuy  #CloseTheLoophole #GunVote

The saddest reality of this entire charade of fake outrage and scripted tweets is that Nancy Pelosi, Democrat frontrunner Hillary Clinton, Senate Democrats, and their allies in the infotainment and entertainment industries is that none of them even have the basic decency or honesty to address the real problem.

We do not have a “gun violence” problem in this nation, even in bloody Chicago.

What we actually have is a “thug culture” problem that none of these people are willing to address.

They’re attacking a problem that doesn’t exist in any way, shape, or form, and you can’t address the real problem if you can’t even define it properly.

From a purely statistical view, per capita homicides are the lowest they’ve been since the Federal Bureau of Investigation started tracking homicides on the national level three generations ago. The FBI’s data clearly shows that criminal homicide all kinds keeps dropping in terms of raw numbers as well.

fbi-weapons

There were just over 8,100 criminal homicides with firearms in a nation of 320 million people, and roughly a firearm for every man woman and child.

Put bluntly, if guns were really the problem, we’d all be dead.

This steep decline in criminal activity with firearms coincides with efforts by the firearms manufacturing and training industries to provide better safety training for both gun owners and better gun safety training to “gun-proof” kids. The National Shooting Sports Foundation’s Project ChildSafe is going a long way to help educate consumers about the importance of keeping guns safely stored when not in use, while the National Rifle Association’s 97,000+ strong instructor training arm and the Eddie Eagle program has helped to dramatically lower accidents with firearms in the past 20 years (PDF).

So if actual criminal violence is dropping nationwide, including violence with firearms, and accidents with firearms are plummeting as well, why are we seeing so much in the media about so-called “gun violence?”

Let’s go back to one of the lines in the song which neatly encapsulates the problem.

Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema

We have a cultural sickness, my fellow Americans.

While violence and accidents are both on the decline nationwide, there are spikes in violence in some specific areas and in specific communities around the country.

There are people in positions of influence who want to craft the illusion that these small spikes in a small number of geographically limited areas are symptoms of a nationwide epidemic that only they can solve.

You’re being had.

You’re being lied to.

Led astray.

Hoodwinked.

Bamboozled.

Run amok.

hillary-shrugs

“The media” can be divided into two parts, and both of these are contributing to crafting the illusion of a “gun violence problem.”

The first part, and arguably the most dangerous part is the mainstream news media. The other half of the equation is the entertainment media. Sadly, there isn’t enough separation between these two groups. Both groups are also heavily infiltrated and influenced by political ideologues who are firmly convinced that “more government involvement” is the answer to nearly every problem.

You’re easily forgiven if you can’t tell the difference between politicians and the journalists you see on every news broadcast and in most major newspapers. After all, we are literally talking about the exact same people. It is shockingly common to see the revolving door of personalities who work on political campaigns and for political parties who then find jobs as reporters, anchors, editorialists, and pundits. Bias is rampant, and outright direct collusion between politicians and their peers media is shamefully commonplace.

Indeed.

Enough moments of silence.  We need moments of action.  @SpeakerRyan: give us a vote #NoFlyNoBuy  #CloseTheLoophole #GunVote

It should worry and disgust every American, regardless of their political affiliation, age, race, sex, income, or views on self-defense, that Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and the modern Democrat Party have but one solution to every problem, and that solution is more government.

They want to pass more laws, take more of your liberty from you, intrude ever more into your privacy, reduce your choices, seize more control over you life, and fatten themselves off your wallet.

Today’s political theater is coolly calculated for their benefit, not yours.

They’re manufacturing a fake epidemic, in order to offer you a “cure” that only benefits them.

I hope that you can see through them, my fellow Americans.

Tell them to go to Hell.
