It looks like the Old North State, which recently picked up a new Ruger facility, is in the running for Beretta’s next facility as well, now that Maryland is no long gun-friendly.

After landing a Sturm Ruger & Co. (NYSE:RGR) plant in Rockingham County this summer, North Carolina is on the radar of another gun manufacturer looking to open a plant.

Beretta, the world’s oldest active gun maker is considering Georgia, North Carolina and five other states for a manufacturing facility that could eventually employ about 400 people, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports.

One Georgia county is working on multiple incentive packages to attract the Beretta plant, according our sister publication.

Jeff Reh, who sits on Beretta’s board of directors and is conducting a search for a new plant site on behalf of the company,told The Business Journal of the Triad that North Carolina has made the short-listbecause it is a gun-friendly state with an available pool of both skilled and unskilled workers. The company is planning to make a final decision on the plant’s location within the next six months, Reh said.

Beretta is scouting a location for a new gun plant after stating in May that it wasevaluating investments in other states due to a new gun law in Maryland, where it has a plant that employs about 300.
