Feel good story of the day: D.C. thug tries to rob cop wearing street clothes

You just have to love a story with a happy ending:

Police said Marcus Young is being charged with assault with intent to rob. He remained hospitalized Wednesday, recovering from a bullet wound to the stomach.

Inspector George Dixon, head of D.C. police’s Internal Affairs Division, said the officer, whose name was not released, shot Young once after he allegedly tried to rob her in the 1600 block of 18th Street SE.

The incident occurred about 6:50 a.m. The officer, who joined the force in January 2012, was in civilian clothes, Dixon said.

It’s too bad that Washington, D.C. doesn’t allow their law-abiding citizens to also carry concealed weapons.
