The gun-free restaurant chain Waffle House’s McCollum-Sharpsburg location is attracting repeat customers in Coweta County, GA: armed robbers.

Around 11:20 p.m. Sunday night, two armed robbers entered the premises and demanded money from the register and individual employees. One of the suspects held a gun to a cook’s back while he waited for her to empty the contents of her purse, including her wallet. The other suspect had a waitress empty the till.

A 911 call was made by an employee who was outside on her break when she saw the suspects run into the restaurant. After she made the call, she hid behind the restaurant for protection.

After stealing $367, the two armed suspects ran outside to a getaway car driven by a third suspect.

The suspects are still on the loose and detectives are reviewing surveillance tapes in hopes of identifying the young men.

Investigators have described both men as being skinny, black males in their late teens or early twenties. They were both described to be between 5 ft. 7 and 5 ft. 10 inches tall. The car was described as a blue, four-door passenger vehicle.

The first suspect was said to be in black clothing and was wearing a mask. The second suspect was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, mask, red sneakers, and tan pants at the time of the crime.

This is the second time in three weeks that this particular Waffle House was targeted by armed robbers, and two additional Waffle House locations, Fairburn and Jonesboro, were targeted by armed robbers in the wee hours of Monday morning.

Hey Waffle House – criminals don’t obey laws, what makes you think they’ll obey a sign on your door?

“One has to wonder if it was the big Waffle House sign the drew the crooks to the location or the little sign on the side of the building that told them it was ‘easy pickings’ – the no firearms allowed sign,” said Jerry Henry, executive director for GeorgiaCarry.Org. “So many businesses can’t seem to grasp that gun free zones are where most crimes occur, so they continue their practice of disarming good guys while the criminals continue to be armed and refuse to obey their signs.”

Amazing that some people just refuse to see that fact.
