Human Trafficking and Drug Cartels

The first order focuses on preventing human trafficking and eliminating the drug cartel in the United States.

“These organizations derive revenue through widespread illegal conduct, including acts of violence and abuse that exhibit a wanton disregard for human life,” the order reads. “They, for example, have been known to commit brutal murders, rapes, and other barbaric acts.”

This order focuses on thwarting attempts to smuggle drugs, weapons and humans to the United States by empowering law enforcement agencies to share information and be transparent with one another.

Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety

The second order focuses on reducing crime throughout the nation. One of the main goals of the task force is to identify flaws in current databases and data-collecting strategies in order to improve the nation’s crime rate. The task force is also responsible for proposing legislation that is beneficial to the law enforcement community.

“The Department of Justice shall take the lead on Federal actions to support law enforcement efforts nationwide and to collaborate with State, tribal, and local jurisdictions to restore public safety to all of our communities,” the order reads.

Preventing Violence Against Law Enforcement Officers

The third executive order is dedicated to protecting law enforcement officers on the local, state and national level.

Under the order, current laws on the books will be reevaluated to make sure individuals who cause harm or attempt to cause harm to a police officer are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

This order gives law enforcement agencies on every level to provide suggestions to the president for budget adjustments and legislative recommendations.
