Kim Kardashian West, one of Hollywood’s favorite people, has used her celebrity status (if you can even call it that) as a means of influencing the gun control debate. Of course, Kardashian works with Everytown for Gun Safety to make it harder for us law-abiding citizens to own firearms.

On Friday, she wrote a message to her fans talking about why she is adamantly in favor of gun control laws.

I’m not against guns and I’m not against people owning guns. After what happened to me in Paris, I know how important it is to be safe and to have armed security.

Notice she changes her tune once it comes to her safety? “Gun control is great…but wait. I get to be the exception, right? I only care about people having guns when it comes to my safety.”

Talk about a hypocrite.

All of my security team is armed, but they also support stricter gun control laws and believe that we should restrict access to firearms for people with mental illness, anyone previously convicted of a misdemeanor, those who have been subject to a temporary restraining order and those at a higher risk of committing gun violence.

If you ask me, this is always gun control advocates best talking points. It sounds so great when it’s spewed out of their mouth, yet they don’t know what gun laws are actually on the books. You know, like having to undergo a background check in order to obtain a gun legally or the fact that criminals aren’t allowed to legally purchase a firearm.

But wait. Criminals will follow laws if they put more of them on the books!

I wish some of these gun control advocates, like Kardashian and Amy Schumer, would sit down with gun owners and hear why we’re passionate about our Second Amendment rights. I wish they would take the time to sit down and really study the laws that are currently in place. As it is, they’re advocating for laws that already exist.
