As of 9:15 a.m. EST, this is what we know about the shooting that took place at the Republican team’s Congressional Baseball practice:
- Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot in the hip. Rep. Brad Wenstrup used Scalise’s belt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.
- Rep. Roger Williams, the head of the baseball caucus, had a staffer who was shot.
- Capitol Police were in attendance because Scalise, a member of leadership, was in attendance. If he wasn’t there, USCP would not have been present.
- Speaker Ryan was spotted at the gym earlier this morning.
- According to Alexandria Police, the suspect is in custody.
