Unbelievable: NJ Home Raided Over Facebook Photo of Child Holding Gun

As an NRA-certified firearms instructor, range safety officer and New Jersey hunting education instructor, Shawn Moore didn’t think it’d be a problem to take a picture of his 10-year-old son holding his new .22 rifle. After all, even his son has a hunting license and has passed the state’s hunter safety course.

When the photo went up on Facebook, however, someone called family services about the picture and Moore’s house ended up being raided by New Jersey police and officials from the Department of Children and Families.

Officers demanded to see Moore’s guns and his gun safe. Officers did not have a warrant, however, and eventually left.

Nevertheless, this was an outrageous response to a Facebook photo of a child responsibly posing with a gun.

The family is considering taking legal action against the state for the raid.
