Liquor Store Owner Defends Himself Against Robbery

A customer walked into the store 30 minutes prior to the robbery and asked what time the store closed. After the store owner responded the customer left and returned shortly after armed with a rifle. The robber held the owner at gunpoint and demanded the money in the register. The owner began to feel angered and couldn’t bear the thought of not seeing his daughters again. He immediately grabbed his own firearm and shot at the robber, who police identify as Charles Steele.

Steele fled the store and the owner followed on foot firing repeatedly. Police later received a call from a gunshot victim, who checked out as the robber. The store owner was surprised he managed to hit the robber, as he had only fired the gun twice beforehand–police say the owner acted in self-defense and won’t be charged with a crime.
