Ruger 10/22 Anniversay context is down to 10 finalists

We mentioned last week (or was it the week before?) that Ruger was having a 50th anniversary contest for the Ruger 10/22, where they would turn a user-submitted design into a production.

They’ve since selected 10 finalists, and are asking people to vote on the rifle they’d most like to see built.

While there are some very cool designs, we voted for the youth and adult versions the rifle submitted by Gary from Michigan. Their utility across a wide-range of shooting disciplines, in every sort of weather, simply blew the rest of the field away.

His designs use the stock from the American Rimfire bolt action. Shooters can select the flat stock module for shooting with iron sights, or raise their cheeks to the proper level for scope shooting (which is one of the major problems in getting scope shooters to shoot consistently) with the high comb module.

I’m not sure if that is an integral rail on the receiver, but if it is, he’s properly addressing another well-known shortcoming of the rifle. The long sight radius of the aperture sights also means that they will be far more practically accurate than the factory standard iron sites. The factory sling swivels remedy another well-known annoyance with the platform.

Head on over and give them your opinion.
