What was that old saying about Sam Colt making all men equal?
A wheelchair-bound Powdersville area homeowner shot and killed an intruder who tried to burglarize his home and was shot in the process, according to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office.
Orlandous Brown, 33, of 103 Woodhaven Court, Easley, shot a 26-year-old Atlanta man “multiple times,” and survived being shot himself, Chief Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman said.
Boseman hadn’t been able to locate the family of the man who was killed and wouldn’t release his name late Thursday.
If it were not for the equalizing power of a privately-owned firearm, the dead home invader could have dispatched the wheelchair-bound Mr. Brown with presumed ease. Because Mr. Brown had a firearm—and obvious competence in its use—he was able to put multiple shots on target and put the offender on the autopsy table.
Mr. Brown not only had a firearm, but shot it accurately under pressure.
Hit the range folks. You don’t rise to the occasion, you default to your level of training and preparedness.
