Obama to Take Executive Action on Gun Control

Despite lawmakers failing to find support to take action just last week, reports say President Obama will take executive action on gun control.

The AP reports:

President Barack Obama’s advisers are finalizing a proposal that would expand background checks on gun sales without congressional approval.

White House adviser Valerie Jarrett says the president has asked his team to complete a proposal and submit it for his review “in short order.” She says the recommendations will include measures to expand background checks.

Although the exact details of what he is looking to push through is not being released, at least part of the measure may include an expansion of background checks.

With more than half (52%) of all Americans opposing stricter gun control laws and the majority of those polled (56%) supporting more concealed carry weapons to make the U.S. safer, it will be interesting to see how Obama will attempt to enact gun control laws without the support of the country.
