Injunction sought in Illinois to allow immediate concealed carry

The concealed carry debate continued in a Chicago courtroom Thursday. Arguments centered on whether or not valid FOID card holders should be able to carry firearms before the first of the year.

“We’re seeking an injunction so that Mary Shepard and others who are similarly situated can start carry a firearm today,” attorney David Thompson said.

Shepard was brutally beaten at a church in Anna back in 2009. Even though Shepard had valid concealed-carry permits in other states, she could not legally protect herself with a firearm. That’s still the case today, four years later.

Their is no word on when the three-judge appeals court will reach their decision, or if a decision in favor of the plaintiff might be written to amount to de facto constitutional carry.
