Carrie Nation fought tenaciously for the prohibition of alcohol. The work of her holier-than-thou prohibitionist cult led to the rise of bootlegging and caused organized crime in the United States to explode. She also indirectly gave us the ATF. In the end, she’s responsible for actions and reactions that killed far more people than her prohibitionist cult saved.
Today, we have our own prohibitionists, and they’re willing to trample the First Amendment in order to destroy the Second Amendment. Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Guns and Moms Demand Action are pushing Facebook to censor firearms-related pages.
The social network has been under pressure from the powerful Mayors Against Illegal Guns and the Moms Demand Action civic group to ban gun-themed fan pages on the site.
Sources close to the conversations told VentureBeat, “Talks are progressing. The discussions are ongoing; there have been positive developments.”
An extensive investigation by VentureBeat last week revealed that adults and children were making arrangements to buy, sell, and trade guns through the many Facebook fan pages devoted to guns and the people who use them, sometimes in violation of federal and state gun laws.
Poppycock.
You cannot sell firearms on Facebook and Instagram. There are no shopping carts and no e-commerce applications on either site for the sale of any item, of any kind.
Bloomberg’s two citizen control cults are objecting to the use of Facebook and Instagram to post pictures of firearms and have discussions about them. Some of those discussions do involved conversations on buying, selling, or trading firearms. Some of these conversations are used to set up physical meetings, in which actual transfers can take place, offline.
What these prohibitionist cults desire is nothing more than the censorship of free speech.
Somehow, I missed the “Buy Gun” button on Facebook and Instagram. What this is actually about is censoring certain kinds of speech.

The clear intent of Mayors Against Guns and Moms Demand Action is to cajole, persuade, or badger Facebook (which owns Instagram) into censoring the speech of sportsmen, hunters, collectors, shooters, and supporters of liberty.
Moms Demand Action and Mayors Against Illegal Guns both heavily censor their social media profiles to stifle any speech that isn’t 100% on message with their draconian goals. Their goal is to stifle debate, where ever it occurs, and they’re more than happy to bully others to do it.
Facebook has a fiduciary responsibility to it’s investors. Censoring the free speech of the 1/3 of Americans that own firearms would damage the brand, and the company’s profitability.
I’d suggest that Facebook give these prohibitionists the same response that Reddit did, which was, effectively, to go pound sand.
