Citizen control groups are adamant in their claims that firearms are the problem leading to violence in our society.
Here are two sample images from the messaging machine that miniature billionaire Michael Bloomberg purchased for $50 million dollars when he hired Democrat PR executive Shannon Watts to run the Moms Demand Action From Illegal Mayors in Everytown gun control collective.
You will note that in these images, and indeed, in all of their marketing, they attempt to blame an inanimate object for the action of people.
Really think about that for a few minutes.
Blaming inanimate objects for the actions of people is a pattern of behavior that self-righteous zealots have been using since prehistory. Here in the United States, the most successful expression of that insanity was the Temperance Movement that sprung up after the Civil War.
The Temperance Movement blamed alcohol for the actions of people. In that regard, Shannon Watts is little more than Carrie Nation, though Watts is much better compensated than the possibly mentally ill woman who was the driving force behind Prohibition.
It is absurd to blame firearms for the actions of criminals.
Blaming firearms for violence is no different than blaming automobile injuries and deaths on cars, instead of the actions of their drivers.
Blaming firearms for violence is no different than blaming medical malpractice injuries and deaths on scalpels and bandages, instead of the actions of doctors and nurses.
Blaming firearms for violence is no different than blaming obesity on spoons and knives, instead of those souls who cannot or will not control their eating.
Blaming inanimate objects for the actions of people is a sign of insanity… or a sign of a very cynical politician abusing the less intelligent, more easily led members of society who want simple solutions (blame a tool) for a complex problem (the behavior of people).
