Active Shooting Reported At Marysville-Pilchuck High School in Marysville, Washington

There was an active shooter situation reported At Marysville-Pilchuck High School In Marysville, Washington this morning at approximately 10:45 AM Pacific time.

Marysville-Pilchuck High School is currently under lockdown, with students locked in their classrooms with the lights off as law enforcement clears the school room by room, searching students and sending them to an assembly area away from the school. Students are being brought to a church in Marysville for pickup.

Parents are asked to remain well away from from the school. No one will not be allowed on campus.

Early reports are that three people taken to an area hospital for treatment, and there is word that a fourth person may be transported. Other news stations are claiming up to six casualties, including the student-shooter.

The shooter has been confirmed deceased. 

There is no report on the extent of injuries to the casualties, but one of the three already transported is said to have head wounds.

Law enforcement officers on the scene are moving with deliberation to clear all rooms and evacuate students and secure the scene.

There are preliminary, unconfirmed reports from students that the person responsible for the shooting is a current student, and those same preliminary and unconfirmed reports suggest that the shooter is one of those that has been shot.

There have not been reports of additional shots fired after the first few minutes. Authorities are not calling the scene “secure,” but it appears that the known active threat has been subdued.

3:30 PM (ET) Update: There are four confirmed casualties in addition the deceased student/shooter. The shooting took place in or near the cafeteria, and the shooter-student appears to have taken his own life. Early accounts that the shooter was engaged by a school resource officer appear to have been incorrect.

3:50 PM (ET) Update: Multiple news agencies are reporting that two students are dead (including the shooter). Four outher students are being treated for gunshot wounds. Three of the four students are in critical condition. There is no expectation of more victims.  The shooter was a freshman football player armed with what sounds like a handgun. He could not have legally possessed such a weapon. Supporters of gun control are already screaming for more laws that would have made no difference at all.

4:05 PM (ET) Update: Police have confirmed that two people are deceased, including the student that used the weapon. The incident originated in the cafeteria.

4:20 PM (ET) Update: Three students remain in critical condition with “primary head wounds.” Some have additional wounds. they are either currently in surgery or in the intensive care unit. Two are female and one is male. The fourth student (male) was in less serious condition and has been moved to another hospital to recover. There are no updates on who the other deceased person was, either by gender or by age.

4:30 PM (ET) Update: Multiple outlets are reporting the name of the Native American male freshman who perpetrated the massacre. As a matter of policy Bearing Arms does not print the names of either mass shooters or school shooters.

5:35 PM (ET) Update: The scene is now officially secured. The other fatality is a female student. The weapon used was a Beretta pistol (model unknown) chambered in .40 S&W. The killer took his own life. The School Resource Officer reported the active shooter incident, but was not apparently in a position to fire his weapon before the killer committed suicide.
