Clinton Claims Her Hatred For The NRA Should Get Her Elected

Per-capita murders are at the lowest levels they’ve ever been in recorded U.S. history.

So are the number of firearms accidents, thanks to education efforts by the firearms industry.

At the same time, the number of gun owners is the highest it has ever been in U.S. history, with the fastest-growing segments being young, urban and female. Concealed carry is expanding nationwide. Shotgun sports (trap, skeet, sporting clays) are the fastest growing high school sport.

We are a nation that has overwhelmingly embraced firearms as a key part of our culture. More Americans, of every walk of life, age, race, and political persuasion, are becoming gun owners.

And yet, for reasons that no one can seem to rationally explain, Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is attempting to wage war against all of them.

Hillary Clinton attempted to focus voters’ minds on gun control in New Hampshire on Wednesday, saying there was a “big difference” between her and Bernie Sanders on the issue.

Speaking alongside former congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who was shot in the head during a public event in 2011, Clinton moved to paint herself as the true opponent of the National Rifle Association.

“There have been a lot of good days when I have stood with friends like the Brady campaign and Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly to take on the gun lobby relentlessly, persistently,” she told voters in the state which holds the next primaries in the presidential race next Tuesday.

The Brady bill was named after James Brady, who was shot during the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan in 1981. It was signed into law by Bill Clinton in 1993 and mandated federal background checks on gun purchases in the US.

“Bernie Sanders didn’t even mention the epidemic of gun violence last night, perhaps because – after voting against the Brady Bill five times and for PLCAA [Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act] twice – he has been on the wrong side of this issue for so long.”

Clinton, appearing in Derry, 16 miles south of Manchester, contrasted Sanders’ positions with her own record, saying she had fought for gun law reform “for many years”.

“This is a big difference in this campaign,” she said. “I have been standing up relentlessly calling out the gun lobby and doing what I can to penetrate the fear, the acquiescence, the intimidation that too many elected officials feel in the face of their threatening political retaliation.”

There is no “epidemic of gun violence,” Mrs. Clinton. Homicides committed with firearms are at a multi-decade low in terms of raw numbers and at an all-time per capita, down from their high point during the presidential administration of Mr. Clinton.

Likewise, Mrs. Clinton, the PLCAA does not shield firearms manufacturers who make defective products or engage in illegal business practices, and only prevents your close friends in the Brady Campaign from filing nuisance lawsuits designed to bankrupt gun companies who have done more than make a lawful product that is, by the way, more popular than it has ever been. Teh reality is that firearms manufacturing is one of the most tightly-regulated and closely-watched industries in the nation.

The “big difference” in the campaign, Mrs. Clinton, is that you’re the first presidential candidate in American political history campaigning on gutting the Bill of Rights.

Do you really think that attacking the Constitution is your path to victory?
