Washington Post Reporter Compares Bush, U.S. Military, SWAT Cops To Nazis

T. Rees Shapiro is comfortable smearing Jeb Bush, The. U.S. military, and many U.S. law enforcement officers as being somehow aligned with the Nazis.

The political bias the Washington Post is obvious to anyone with more than a room temperature IQ, and their descent into becoming a propaganda outlet on par with Think Progress or Media Matters for America has long been documented.

Indeed, it doesn’t seem that they can go more than two days without tarnishing what little credibility they once had.

Their latest cheap shot at Republican Presidential candidate Jeb Bush by “education reporter” T. Rees Shapiro revolves around the engraved handgun Republican Presidential candidate Jeb Bush was given yesterday in Columbia, South Carolina, as he visited gun maker FN America.

Jeb Bush was presented with this FN America-manufactured FNX -45 yesterday. The FNX-45 was developed for the U.S. Joint Combat Pistol Program.

Attempting to go for the lowest of cheap shots, Shapiro attempted to use FN to link Bush to the Nazis.

No, I’m not kidding.

The handgun tweet posted by Bush came after a tour and town hall with employees at the FN plant. The tweet has exploded online and has the potential to boost his image among Southerners beyond South Carolina who value the 2nd Amendment and the right to bear arms.

But the manufacturer of the handgun shown in Bush’s picture has a history of its own. While the company is known as FN America, it is actually a subsidiary of FN Herstal, a foreign corporation based in Belgium. And for decades, the company was known as Fabrique Nationale d’Armes de Guerre.

During World War II, the company was requisitioned by the Nazi military and its factories produced thousands of weapons for Axis troops, including pistols carried by Nazi officers and pilots. One model, the Browning-designed Hi-Power, was used by both the Allies and Axis powers during the war, with FN factories manufacturing a version of the popular handgun for the German military.

Bush is in league with the Nazis!

Or something.

Shapiro then begrudgingly admits that FN manufactures the M4 carbine, the 7.62 NATO-chambered M240 general purpose machine gun, and the Mk19 grenade launcher used by every branch of the United States military.

But that’s not all.

In addition to these firearms, FN manufactures the M249 SAW (squad automatic weapon), the Mk46 and Mk 48 machine guns used by U.S. Special Operations troops, the iconic M2 (“Ma Deuce”) .50 BMG machine guns, the FN SCAR-16 and SCAR-17 rifles used by elite U.S. light infantry units including the Green Berets and Rangers, the Five-seveN pistol and P90 PDW (personal defense weapon) used by some elements of the U.S. military and some American law enforcement SWAT units, and the FN303 launcher used by police departments nationwide by both SWAT officers and in crowd control situations.

T. Rees Shapiro is comfortable smearing Jeb Bush, The. U.S. military, and many U.S. law enforcement officers as being somehow aligned with the Nazis.
T. Rees Shapiro is comfortable smearing Jeb Bush, the entire U.S. military, and many U.S. law enforcement officers as being somehow aligned with the Nazis.

Shapiro casually attempted to link Jeb Bush to the Nazis because:

  • Belgium was overrun by the Nazis early in World War II.
  • The Nazis recognized a quality firearms company (which had a long partnership with iconic American firearms designer John Moses Browning) and continued production of FN weapons for German soldiers.
  • Something involving underpants gnomes.
  • Jeb Bush visited the most prolific manufacturer of U.S. military firearms and was presented with an engraved handgun.

Of course, if Bush can be so casually linked to the Nazis, then Shapiro and the Post must be apoplectic that the American military and police forces around the nation are similarly “Nazi-powered.”

The Washington Post is devoid of logic and reason in their blind hatred as they smear a struggling fourth-place presidential candidate, and in so doing, have smears tens of millions of active-duty and prior-service soldiers, sailors, airmen, Coast Guardsmen, National Guardsmen, Reserves, and Marines, along with tens of thousands of police officers who use FN firearms and less-lethal systems to protect the American people.

Perhaps the writers, editorial board, and owners of the Washington Post should take the day to consider just how monumentally screwed up they are not just as journalists, but as human beings.
