NRA Says Democrats Should Try a New Approach, and Blame Terrorists For Terrorism

Chris Cox,  executive director of the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action, penned an op-ed in USAToday which puts the blame for Sunday’s Islamic terror attack where it belongs, on radical Islamic terrorists.

Americans were shocked and disgusted to learn of another act of terrorism on our soil, this time in Orlando. In the aftermath of this terrorist attack,President Obama and Hillary Clinton renewed calls for more gun control, including a ban on whole categories of semi-automatic firearms. They are desperate to create the illusion that they’re doing something to protect us because their policies can’t and won’t keep us safe. This transparent head-fake should scare every American, because it will do nothing to prevent the next attack.

The terrorist in Orlando had been investigated multiple times by the FBI. He had a government-approved security guard license with a contractor for the Department of Homeland Security. Yet his former co-workers reported violent and racist comments. Unfortunately, the Obama administration’s political correctness prevented anything from being done about it.

Radical Islamic terrorists are not deterred by gun control laws. The San Bernardino terrorist attack wasn’t stopped by California’s so-called “assault weapons” ban. The gun ban in Brussels didn’t prevent the terrorist attack there. And France’s strict gun control didn’t stop the two attacks in Paris, committed with fully-automatic rifles and grenades.

Repeating the same thing but expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. Law-abiding gun owners are tired of being blamed for the acts of madmen and terrorists. Semi-automatics are the most popular firearms sold in America for sport-shooting, hunting and self-defense.

Cox then went on to note, as we have previously, that Democrats forced through so-called a “assault weapon ban” under Bill Clinton, and the law did absolutely nothing to either impact crime or terrorism, or even impact the availability of firearms, as it was nothing more than a ban on cosmetic features and names.

The AR-15 variant on top was sold throughout the life of the 1994-2004 “assault weapon” ban. The AR-15 variant on bottom was sold before and after the so called ban. There is no significant functional difference between them.

The current President of the United States and the woman who is the first political candidate to even run for office while being the subject of a criminal investigation by the FBI clearly have their priorities askew as they attempt to blame the rights of law-abiding American citizens to deflect away from their politically-correct ineptitude.

The popularity of AR-15s is not to blame, as the Islam terrorist did not use an AR-15, but instead used an entirely different family of rifle.

These anti-gun politicians are attempting to use the deadliest ISlamic terror attack since 9/11 to push for background check laws, even though the terrorist repeatedly passed background checks, include checks for a Florida weapons permit and two separate FBI NICS background checks as recently as last week.

Democrats are using the attack as an excuse to try to strip Americans of their right to bear arms if arbitrarily placed on a watch list by a government bureaucrat, even though the terrorist was not on any watch lists or under investigation by the FBI, (unlike Hillary Clinton).

Firearm sales are at an all-time high. Guns are owned by more people than ever before across a much wide demographic spectrum, and are legally carried in more places by a record number of concealed carriers. Per capita homicides with firearms and accidents with firearms are at all all-time historic low.

Guns clearly aren’t the problem.

Radical Islamic terrorists and the liberty-loathing, politically-correct politicians and media that enable them are going to be the death of us all.
