Barack Obama’s presidency may be winding down, but his record-setting gun sales record just scored another milestone, with the busiest July sales in recorded history of well over 1.2 million guns according to a press release from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).

The July 2016 NSSF-adjusted National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) figure of 1,210,731is an increase of 27.9 percent compared to the July 2015 NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 946,528. For comparison, the unadjusted July 2016 FBI NICS figure of 2,187,190 reflects a 37.6 percent increase from the unadjusted FBI NICS figure of 1,589,462 in July 2015.

The adjusted NICS data were derived by subtracting out NICS purpose code permit checks and permit rechecks used by several states such as Connecticut, Illinois, and Utah for CCW permit application checks as well as checks on active CCW permit databases. NSSF started subtracting permit rechecks in February 2016.

Obama’s record more than doubles gun sales during George W. Bush’s last July in office.

At least 1/3 of the firearms in the American civilian market—more than 107 million firearms—have been sold during President Obama’s time in officer, and those numbers are growing by leaps and bounds year-over-year.

To be completely fair, Obama may not be completely responsible for the new sales record.

Hillary Clinton has secured the Democrat nomination for President, running as the first candidate in American history against a core constitutional right. Clinton wants to ban the most common rifles sold in the United States, and is also pushing for a repeal of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), a law that prevents frivolous lawsuits against gun companies that would bankrupt the industry.
