Black Lives Matter supporters rioted for a second straight night in Milwaukee following the Saturday afternoon shooting of a serial felon who raised a stolen gun at police.

For a second night, violent protests rocked Milwaukee over the police shooting of an armed African-American man. At least two people were injured after shots were fired and objects hurled during the protest early Monday, police said.

One victim was shot during the Monday unrest and rushed to a hospital in an armored vehicle. A police officer was injured and also taken to the hospital after a rock broke the windshield of a squad car, according to Milwaukee Police. The damage was not as extensive as the protests from the previous night.

Sylville Smith pulled a stolen Glock G19 pistol with an extended magazine as he ran from Milwaukee police. A police body camera allegedly captured Smith stopping and turning towards the officer, the gun starting to raise, before the officer opened fire in what appears to be a clearly lawful shoot of a violent African-American criminal by an African-American officer.

The domestic terrorist group Black Lives Matter then used Smith’s death as an excuse to target some residents of the city for beatings, attack law enforcement officers, and to loot and commit arson against businesses.

Last night “protesters” swarmed a Milwaukee police station. They reportedly opened fire at three locations nearby, but hit no police officers. It is not clear if the victim who was shot and taken to police in an armored vehicle was an innocent, or if the criminal radicals—who generally don’t use holsters, and who don’t generally have any gun safety training—managed to shoot one of their own, or if even if the “victim” shot himself.

The domestic terrorists burned one police car and severely damaged another with rocks.

Governor Scott Walker had called up the National Guard after Saturday’s rioting, looting, and arson in case the riots last night were more intense than those on Saturday, but they were not deployed.

Incredibly, the sister of the armed criminal shot while raising the stolen gun towards police is attempting to argue that officers still did not have justification to shoot him.

Smith’s sister, Kimberly Neal, remembered a brother who “kept it real,” a high school graduate who played basketball, a contrast to “the man with a lengthy arrest record” described by police.

“He should have been tased, if anything,” she said. “We want everybody to feel our pain.”

Let me make this perfectly clear for the dangerously stupid and criminally-inclined: tasers are for use on non-lethal threats only, or for when group of officers who have lethal force backup have the option of possibly deploying a taser against someone with an edged or impact weapon who appears to have limited mobility.

In a one-on-one situation or even a several-on-one situation where the suspect is armed with a impact weapon, knife, or gun, the officer is going to go to his sidearm first, and he’s going to be legally justified in doing so every time with very rare exceptions.

Based upon what we currently know, there was nothing remotely questionable about the legality or morality of the shooting of Sylville Smith.

Smiths father, Patrick Smith, is likewise a felon who has been in and out of prison. The elder Smith partially blames himself for being a bad role model (gee, you think?), but he then blames a mysterious “they” and the right of law-abiding citizens to bear arms for the criminal actions of people like himself and his dead son.

Like, already I feel like they should have never OK’d guns in Wisconsin. They already know what our black youth was doing anyway. These young kids gotta realize this is all a game with them. Like they’re playing Monopoly. You young kids falling into their world, what they want you to do. Everything you do is programmed. I had to blame myself for a lot of things too because your hero is your dad and I played a very big part in my family’s role model for them. Being on the street, doing things of the street life: Entertaining, drug dealing and pimping and they’re looking at their dad like ‘he’s doing all these things.’ I got out of jail two months ago, but I’ve been going back and forth in jail and they see those things so I’d like to apologize to my kids because this is the role model they look up to. When they see the wrong role model, this is what you get. They got us killing each other and when they even OK’d them pistols and they OK’d a reason to kill us too. Now somebody got killed reaching for his wallet, but now they can say he got a gun on him and they reached for it. And that’s justifiable.

I’ll leave you to attempt to decipher who “they” is, but Smith’s attempt to blame firearms for the behavior of criminals like his son are self-evidently absurd.

A line from the song “Heathens” from the recent Suicide Squad movie addresses what Smith, other criminals, and gun control advocates won’t admit:

Just because we check the guns at the door
Doesn’t mean our brains will change from hand grenades

A firearm is only a tool. There are more than 300 million of them in the United States and less than a fraction of one percent of them will ever be used in a crime. It is the mind of a human predator that is the real weapon, and likening the mind of a violent criminal to a hand grenade isn’t a bad analogy.

The only practical defense against these “human hand grenades” for an average citizen who is not a street-hardened criminal is a firearm.

It’s time for Black Lives Matter to take a long, hard look at the “gangsta” culture that glorifies and justifies misogyny, drug-dealing, gang-banging, and violent criminal behavior as being legitimate.

Maybe when they start acting like “black lives matter,” the rest of the world might take them seriously.
