Democrat Promises To Jump To Wrong Conclusions After Airport Shooting

The actions of a mentally-disturbed man who who flew from Alaska to Florida to carry out a mass shooting in Florida are now drawing the attention of a mentally-disturbed woman.

“We’re going to have to take a hard look once and for all at the unsecured areas of our airports,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., said.

Wasserman Schultz said she plans to review security procedures with TSA leaders.

A TSA agent died in a shooting in 2013 outside a security checkpoint at Los Angeles International Airport. The rules regarding guns in airports vary by city and state.

The National Council of State Legislatures has identified six states including Florida which ban people from carrying guns in all areas of airports.

“The law is only protecting criminals. It’s not protecting law-abiding citizens who want the right and ability to defend themselves,” Republican Florida State Sen. Greg Steube said.

Steube introduced a bill to allow owners with permits to openly carry guns in areas like the place where Friday’s shooting occurred. He suggests the 45-second attack could have ended even sooner if other passengers were armed.

“That’s a ludicrous suggestion. If someone with a gun in the baggage claim area opened fire in the midst of hundreds of people, the life loss probably would have been worse,” Wasserman Schultz said.

Wasserman Schultz—who was forced to resign as chairwoman from the Democrat National Committee after Wikileaks showed she conspired against Bernie Sanders in the Democrat primaries—has never been unfairly accused of being overly intelligent.

The murderer* carried out his attack in one of only six states that bars concealed carry in the unsecured areas of airports, rendering the area “gun free zones.”

98.4% of all mass shootings take place in these gun free zones. Despite the complete failure of these zones—which have been conclusively proven to fail—Wasserman Schultz demands that what we need is more of what fails. She argues that:

“If someone with a gun in the baggage claim area opened fire in the midst of hundreds of people, the life loss probably would have been worse.”

You make this comment based upon what level of training, lady? Oh, that’s right… none.

Wasserman Schultz doesn’t have any firearms training. She’s just another rabid anti-gun zealot who puts her agenda, regardless of the facts.

What are the facts?

The facts are that this murderer pushed forward through the airport to shoot at targets of opportunity, and that yes, concealed carriers might have had an opportunity to take him down with minimal risk to other passengers, and end his rampage early.

Here’s security video of the shooting as it began.

You know what I see?

I see a poorly-trained killer who has no thought or concern about anyone, including himself. He moved forward always, never checked behind him, and anyone with a concealed carry weapon behind him when he began his attack could have put a round in his head (or a few in his back) simply by moving in behind him at a brisk walk. You’ll note that the baggage claim conveyers to his left are empty, and there are no people there. That’s a safe direction to fire, and as many people hit the ground, there appears to have been ample opportunity for a hypothetical concealed carrier to take him down before the killer finished firing his first magazine.

It probably would stun Wasserman Schultz to discover that numerous shooting schools offer “active shooter” classes and scenario-based training on how to take down a gunman in a crowd quickly with minimal risk to innocent bystanders. You know… situations very similar to this one.

Terrorists, the mentally ill, and the just plain evil target gun free zones like this because these locations create a situation where would-be killers can be confident that they can carry out their attacks with little risk of having some unknown concealed carrier launch a counterattack.

Republican Florida State Sen. Greg Steube is on the right path with his bill to allow people to go armed in airports, as most of the rest of the nation already does.
