This is How You Shoot Yourself In The Leg

Kids, this is how you develop a permanent limp.

Anton Beukes is a South African shooter with a fast draw and a really bad tendency to get his finger on the trigger of his CZ P09s and P07s while his gun is still in the holster and/or the gun is canted at his body.

He’s been lucky so far, but he’s also apparently so focused on being fast that he’s cutting corners with safety and has developed a draw stroke that puts his finger on the trigger well before he’s on target, and even before he clears his own holster and body.

I’d be very interested to know how many times Beukes has negligently discharged rounds under the target stand or at his feet as he’s developed his “technique,” and there appears to be a shot that misses the entire target low near the end of the video that suggests he’s pushing himself to the raw edge of his capabilities.

If he doesn’t change his technique, it seems like it will only be a matter of time before we get to hear “I just f___ing shot myself!” in a whole new accent.

You need to work on developing a smooth and consistent draw, but you shouldn’t push yourself past your capabilities.

As famed lawman Wyatt Earp was said to have noted, “speed is fine, but accuracy is final.”
