Four Killed In Shooting At Halloween Party In Orinda, California

Four people are dead and four others are wounded after a shooting at a Halloween party in the Contra Costa County town of Orinda, California. According to local reports, police say they were called to the scene around 11:45 p.m. Witnesses told local reporters that the party took place at an Airbnb rental, and was packed with hundreds of people when shots rang out.

Video from the scene posted by KGO-TV showed multiple patients being loaded into ambulances as others limped away from the scene. Video also showed police talking to people who appeared injured.

There are not many details known at this point, including any description of the suspect or suspects. Police say they were overwhelmed by the crowd of attendees, at least some of them students from nearby Laney College in Oakland, California.

The East Bay Express newspaper reports the party had been advertised beforehand on social media.

According to social-media posts, an “AirBNB mansion party” had been advertised for Thursday night. The flier was adorned with crime-scene tape and told attendees to “DM for location,” “BYOB” and “BYOW.” One post sharing the flier appeared to have a location of “Orinda, California” and said doors would open at 10 p.m.

The paper describes the neighborhood where the shooting took place as an upscale area, full of “narrow, winding streets, lined with multimillion homes, on a hill on the west side of downtown Orinda.

This is at least the second shooting at a Halloween party in California this week, after three people were killed at a party in southern California on Tuesday evening.

The shooting occurred on the 2700 block of Seventh Street in the Southern California city during a Halloween party at a private home, according to fire officials and local news outlets.

The motive for the attack was not immediately clear. The police said they were looking for several suspects, according to KTLA 5, a local news station.

Police still don’t have a suspect in custody for the shooting in Long Beach, and right now there’s no word of any arrests in the shooting in Orinda that took place Thursday night. We’ll continue to follow this story and provide an update later today.
