Gun Owners Prepare For The Worst After Virginia Election

Virginia gun owners are still struggling to adapt to the fact that the state is now fully run by politicians adamantly opposed to their right to keep and bear arms, or at least that’s the case for this Virginia gun owner. Joining me on today’s Bearing Arms’ Cam & Co. to help make sense of it all is Dave Adams, the legislative affairs director for the Virginia Shooting Sports Association.

Dave makes one very good point that’s worth highlighting: the suburban Republicans who ran into trouble on Election Day were the ones who went a little soft and squishy in their support for the Second Amendment. Gun control groups targeted state senators Amanda Chase and Glen Sturtevant, both of whom represent districts in the Richmond suburbs. Chase never backed down from her support for the Second Amendment and won handily. Sturtevant, on the other hand, tried to distance himself from his Second Amendment support, and narrowly lost his re-election bid.

The message is clear, according to Adams. Candidates need to hold firm to their principals, not chase after the supposed “gunsense” vote. Unfortunately, now that the elections are over, Virginians are going to have to deal with the fact that anti-gunners are in charge for at least the next two years in the state, and Adams says gun owners and Second Amendment supporters are going to have get creative and innovative to try and block the most egregious infringements of our constitutional rights.

Also on today’s show we have the sad story of a young man in Cincinnati facing murder charges who just got a big break from a juvenile court judge, an armed citizen story out of Genesee County, New York, and an officer in the right place and at the right time to make a life-changing impact on a Georgia man.
