In the video, you can see two men run towards the husband, who’s not on camera, while a third runs towards the door of the home. Then the pair of armed men force the husband inside the home.

Moments later the three quickly fled the home. As it turns out, when the man’s wife heard the sound of a struggle, she grabbed her gun and stepped outside her bedroom. According to authorities, the would-be robbers fired shots at her before taking off. It’s unclear whether the wife returned fire, but the simple fact that she was armed was enough to get them to flee.

The robbery took place back on November 27th, but it seems like police have just now made the video available, in part because they haven’t been able to make any arrests in the case. Now the Houston Police Department is offering up a reward of up to $5,000 for any information that leads to the arrests of the three suspects. Hopefully the video images will prompt someone to tell police what they know about the crime.

In the meantime, both husband and wife are alive and well, thanks to the fact that she was able to protect her spouse with a handgun.

This is the second armed citizen story in the past week to make headlines in Houston, though this particular incident took place a couple of weeks ago. Back on December 13th, the Houston Chronicle an armed citizen who was able to protect himself against a pair of robbers in an apartment complex parking lot.

During the robbery attempt, the victim managed to pull a gun and shoot at the suspects, striking at least one of them, police said.

As the robbery suspects fled, one of them collapsed and was pronounced dead by paramedics. It is unclear if the second suspect was struck or not. Investigators with the Houston Police Department homicide division are investigating the circumstances.
