Uvalde school shooting and the new push for gun control - VIP Gold Live Chat - Replay Available

I’m sure we’ll be spending a few minutes talking about last night’s primary results (particularly the Georgia races), but I expect that most of today’s VIP Gold live chat will be spent talking about the shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas in which 18 children were massacred by an 18-year old high school student who lived in the small town.

There are already a lot of developments to cover, including:

  • Democrats immediately politicize the shooting, with Biden calling for a ban on “assault weapons” and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announcing a vote on a universal background check bill
  • The push to confirm Steve Dettelbach as ATF Director heats up, with Biden targeting gun manufacturers in his first address
  • Will the shooting in Uvalde reinvigorate Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke’s flailing gubernatorial campaign?
  • If gun control isn’t the answer, what can be done to prevent these kinds of attacks?

If you can’t join us as the live chat happens, you can always check it out on demand after we wrap up. I can’t promise that this week’s conversation will be the light-hearted laugh fest that it often devolves (or ascends?) to, but I’m still looking forward to hearing what you have to say about the horrific news and the calculated political reaction to Tuesday’s shooting.
