While Joe Biden's on a mission to turn law-abiding citizens into felons for simply exercising their right to keep and bear arms, his Justice Department is going easy on offenders who are stealing and selling guns on the black market. The most recent example of the glaring double standard comes from Boston, where instead of spending the next few years behind bars, one man was recently given a slap on the wrist for absconding with three firearms that he was supposed to deliver to customers while working as a FedEx driver. 

According to federal prosecutors, Frank P. O’Toole stole two rifles and a shotgun that were being shipped to an FFL in Massachusetts and then turned around and sold two of them to an undercover law enforcement officer. That's a pretty serious crime, but his sentence is an absolute joke. 

A Middleborough truck driver was sentenced to six days in prison and three years supervised release on Friday for stealing and selling three guns from packages he was responsible for delivering. 

...In addition to the three years of supervised release, O’Toole was ordered to complete 250 hours of community service.

Six days? There are states with waiting periods longer than the amount of time O'Toole spent behind bars for his crime. In fact, that six-day sentence was essentially the amount of time he served between his arrest and bonding out of jail while he awaited trial. 

While the judge in this case may have been responsible for O'Toole's sentence, it was Joe Biden's Justice Department that worked out the plea agreement with the former FedEx driver. O'Toole pleaded guilty to two counts of possession or sale of a stolen firearm last June and the U.S. Attorney handling the case recommended a ten-month sentence to the judge, even though under 18 U.S.C. § 922(i) & 922(j) each count could have come with a ten-year sentence.

I doubt anyone from Biden's White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention will utter a peep of protest over the kid glove treatment provided to O'Toole by the DOJ. They're far too focused on finding new and inventive ways to curtail legal gun ownership to concern themselves with how the administration goes after gun thieves who try to dump their purloined products on the illicit market. But if Biden was serious about reducing "gun violence" he'd fire the U.S. Attorney who signed off on this deal and suggested that O'Toole be sentenced to just 1/20th of the time he was eligible to receive. 

Instead, Biden has declared the firearms industry to be his enemy while turning the ATF and DOJ into federally financed gun control groups with law enforcement powers. Smoke marijuana as a gun owner? The DOJ will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law and put you in prison for almost four years. Own a pistol stabilizing brace? The ATF says that probably makes any pistol it's attached to a short-barreled rifle, and unless it's registered with the government you could be heading to prison for up to ten years. 

Steal multiple firearms from the back of your delivery truck and sell them on the black market? No biggie. Just a minor infraction that's not even worth a year behind bars, according to the Justice Department. 

We can fault the judge for giving O'Toole a slap on the wrist, but the Biden administration is to blame for giving O'Toole a plea deal in the first place. He was caught red-handed selling stolen firearms to an undercover agent, so it's not like DOJ didn't have a strong case to bring before a jury. Prosecutors made the decision to go easy on O'Toole when they could have used this case to set an example about the dangers of stealing and selling guns, once again demonstrating the twisted priorities of the most anti-gun owner administration in U.S. history.
