Five people entered the liquor store in an attempted robbery, but little did they know the clerk on duty wasn’t interested in being robbed or becoming a victim. He drew a weapon on the robbers and let them know he wasn’t going down without a fight.
“Shots were exchanged,” Sonny Jackson, DPD spokesman, said Tuesday morning.
Scared off by the return gunfire, the suspects took off, leaving one of their crew with a gunshot wound to the leg at Denver Health Medical Center. Police later speculated the wound may have been self-inflicted.
Officers tracked down the suspects’ vehicle and gave chase, eventually using a PIT maneuver to stop the pursuit. After clearing the vehicle, police placed two males and two females under arrest.
The fifth member of their crew remains in the hospital recovering from his suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Way to go liquor store clerk – just one more example of how citizens are standing up to these punks. Hopefully, the more these punks see that they could be involved in a shootout with a trained gun owner if they attempt an armed robbery, they’ll think twice about coming after law-abiding citizens.
