UPDATE: At the request of the family and in the interest of operational security for a still operating Special Forces soldier, last names have been removed from the article and blurred off pictures.
Sergeant First Class Keith B. and his fiancé Jamie are expecting their first child! Now, for those of you who have been to a baby shower or seen pictures posted of couples’ “baby reveal” on social media – you ain’t seen nothing yet.
The expecting parents decided to go with something much different than the oh-so-played balloons in a box or color of the cake reveals, no way.
With the soon-to-be daddy’s career as a member of the United States Army Special Forces, the legendary Green Berets, the couple did a little research and ultimately decided on an idea: Using a labeled box filled with the binary explosive Tannerite and colored chalk powder to reveal their baby’s gender!
They had their reveal photos shot by Anna Elizabeth Photography, then it was Batchelder’s turn to shoot.
Jamie said her fiance was fully prepared, having been in training for the Best Ranger Competition for the last several weeks. Well, that and being one of America’s elite Special Forces soldiers helps, too.
The expectant father fired his rifle into the center of the box which triggered a colored chalk explosion in either pink or blue to reveal whether the couple is having a girl or a boy!
He nailed it on the first shot! His bullet hit the Tannerite and sent a plume of blue chalk into the air which announced, “We’re having a boy!”
The happy couple, as you can see, will welcome a son later this year.
