Making Gun Crime a.. Well, Crime Didn't Work, But Maybe This Concert Will!

Dude. Gun violence. It’s like… a total bummer ‘n stuff. These felons and criminals probably don’t even know they’re not supposed to be shooting people with guns they stole or got through a straw purchaser, it’s not their fault. There should be a law against people using guns to commit crimes – and then people should tell everyone that it’s against the law cuz that would totally end gun violence.

Until that day, we’ll just have to discuss ways to work toward reasonable gun laws and jam out to some music. Music! Yeah, that’s it! That’ll end gun violence!

Artists and activists nationwide are coming together for a free concert event, “Concert Across America to End Gun Violence.”

The series of live concerts has been brought together by social media and is meant to recognize murder victims and stimulate discussion of how to better manage firearms.

Hmm, like proper grip? Safes? Child Safety locks? No need to discuss – the firearms industry offers resources on all of these.. probably better music, too. But I digress!

In Salina, KS, everyone is welcome from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Campbell Plaza on North Santa Fe Avenue to take part in traditionally festive anti-gun tunes they know and love.

Live entertainment will be provided by Jaron Bell; Salina-based rock band A.M.; EKG, featuring “Conscious” Calder Anderson and “B-Hall” (Bryce Hall); and poet/rapper Matt Spezia. Speakers will include Janet Huschka Hanson, Sandy Beverly and firearms expert David Nichols.

Food trucks, including Porky’s Taquitos and Umami Bowl, will be available.

U-ma-mi!

In LaCrosse, WI, head on down to The Pump House at 119 King Street from 6:00-8:00pm where event host Ryan Soberg highlights the night filled with music and poetry from Pigtown Fling (House Band), Christopher Rude, the La Crosse Dance Centre, Tracy Littlejohn (Ho-Chunk Nation), UW-L Theatre Dept. performing scenes from “26 Pebbles” (a play about the Sandy Hook shootings), LGBTQ stories and so much more!

Try not to ask too many questions about what their follow up plan is though, that’s being  “angry”.
