Suspect in Myrtle Beach, SC Shooting in Custody

The suspect in a shooting that was broadcast on Facebook Live this weekend has been apprehended.

Police officers in Myrtle Beach, SC were dispatched to the area of 4th Ave N and Ocean Blvd. around 12:25 a.m. Sunday morning to investigate a ‘large crowd’ gathered in the area. But before officers arrived on the scene, a fight broke out in the crowd and one individual pulled a gun, shooting into the crowd.

Authorities confirmed an armed security officer who witnessed the melee shot the suspect to prevent further injuries. Although he was hit, the suspect was still able to fire off several shots before he carjacked a vehicle and fled the scene. The security officer was grazed in the shooting, but treated by medics at the scene.

In total, seven people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The dramatic video shows the fight as well as the moment the suspect draws his gun and begins shooting:

According to Lt. Joey Crosby, police officers found the stolen vehicle and have identified and apprehended a suspect in the case. A patrol car was hit by the gunfire, but no officers were hurt.

Police have not released the identity of the suspect in custody.
